Dreamcatcher follows around Brenda, a former prostitute who runs a foundation that helps women in Chicago going through the same plight that she went through. Both through her foundation and through her day job, she counsels women who have been sexually abused, those in prostitution, and those who may be on the verge.
This documentary opens you up to a world that you most likely aren’t exposed to. It helps you understand what situations these women go through that drive them to the streets – and what they experience once they’ve started selling their bodies.
While a bit longer than it necessary (yes, some filler), Dreamcatcher is still worth a viewing: 3/5 at Hot Docs.
